(SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) CHINESE ARTIST HU MING SAYING:
"I painted a lot of torsos back then in the women's shower room. They all thought I was very funny: "Just don't paint the face, not the face!" I could only paint the body. I painted a lot, at that time I was fascinated by the body, I thought it was so beautiful. Maybe I did have wrong thoughts, at that time I was always worried that maybe I did have a problem because I could not become a member of the Party. Actually, I really did want to enter the party because entering the Party was a mark of honour."

(SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) CHINESE ARTIST HU MING SAYING:
"For a lot of the body parts, like the legs, I used male models but the face is female. That is my ideal. I don't like women to be very thin, that is only for a man's benefit; I think women should look good for other women and from inside to outside they should be powerful, strong and very confident."
