Ethan Bortnick is a nine-year-old pianist, composer and entertainer. Ethan Bortnick is a nine-year-old pianist, composer and entertainer. The articulate young musician described the experience.
"I mean whoa, it was so much fun. I loved recording. It was just amazing. I was like, so much fun," said Bortnick.
Bortnick has been spending time in Los Angeles, recording a television special for the American public broadcasting entity PBS, making him the youngest musician with a special on that network.
Bortnick says he doesn't get nervous playing in front of audiences, instead he imagines they are animals. He also says that he would much rather share his music than sit and play by himself.
"I think I like making people happy, more than just 'blah, blah, blahing' around," said Bortnick.
The budding soloist hails from south Florida. He started playing a keyboard at the age of three and was composing music by the age of five. He is able to play any song by ear and first learned Mozart by listening to Baby Einstein music CDs.
Bortnick has appeared on many television networks including "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "The Oprah Winfrey Show." He has also raised millions of dollars for children's charities across the world, making him one of the world's youngest philanthropists. Close
