Moscow police detained dozens of members of a pro-Kremlin youth movement "Molodaya Gvardia" when they tried to disrupt a protest organised by leftist groups on Saturday (March 14).
The protest, which was sanctioned by the mayor's office, was aimed at attracting attention to problems such as the ecological situation in Moscow, intentions of the City hall to build garbage-burning plants in Moscow and problems of cheated investors.
"They want to portray us as extremists, but our task is to make the voice of Muscovites in the city mean something, and not just a noise," said Sergei Udaltsov, organiser of the protest.
Several dozen members of a pro-Kremlin youth movement "Molodaya Gvardia" arrived to disrupt the protest and started throwing leaflets in the air shouting 'Shut up leftists'.
Police quickly interfered and started pushing the pro-Kremlin youth away from the protest. Dozens were detained.
