The British prime minister's wife Sarah Brown made a brief stop at a section of Israel's West Bank barrier and the Aida Palestinian refugee camp on Sunday (July 20), on her way to the West Bank city of Bethlehem.
Brown is visiting the region with her husband, Gordon Brown, and will meet Israeli and Palestinian officials, locals and women's groups.
Upon his arrival in Bethlehem, Gordon Brown was welcomed by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at a red carpet ceremony at Jacir Palace, and met with Palestinian officials.
Brown will discuss a way ahead in Middle East peace moves, and announce new aid for the Palestinians during his first visit as prime minister to Israel and the Palestinian territories, British officials said.
