Teachers at the children's home said they were surprised when they had heard Jackson would be visiting.
"Even though small children doesn't know who he is, most children over 10 know him well and got very excited." said headmistress of the christian-run school Kiyoko Mito.
On Saturday, Jackson appeared in public for the first time since his acquittal on sex-abuse charges last year, accepting a "legend award" at MTV's Japan video music awards ceremony.
