Story:

Brixton has become Britain's first urban area to launch its own currency. Dozens of local businesses in and around SW9 will now accept the "Brixton Pound". The notes are not legal tender but shops will accept them in denominations of one, five, ten and twenty pounds. Lambeth Council hopes the unique currency will help the area's recovery from the recession.
