It is now possible to add filters to your search results to narrow or widen your search. Each filter takes the form of a panel in the ‘Refine’ block and panels can be added and removed by clicking the + or - buttons.
The type of filter that a panel applies to the results can be changed by selecting from the drop down list. Each filter type is explained in more detail below:
This determines whether your search is across all of ITN Source or just Compilations, Archive or Stock Footage. You may only have one filter of this type per search.
This allows you to select which of our partners to include in your search. By default we show the top four partners but you can see them all by clicking the ‘see more’ link. Selecting no partners has the same effect as selecting them all.
You may only have one filter of this type per search.
This allows you to exclude words from your search. For example if your main search was the word ‘Apples’ you could add an exclude filter with the word ‘Pears’ to show all results that contained the word ‘Apples’ and not the word ‘Pears’.
You may add as many Exclude filters as you like to a search.
This allows you to restrict your search to clips that are Clips On Demand or have a preview available or both. You may only have one filter of this type per search.
This allows you to filter your results by some genres that we have allocated to certain search results. Currently we have only tagged entertainment clips but we’ll be adding more over the next few months.

This allows you to filter your results by the location of the footage. By default we show the top four locations but you can see all locations for your current search by clicking the ‘see more’ link.

This allows you to filter your results by the decade that the footage was shot. By default we show the top four decades but you can see all decades for your current search by clicking the ‘see more’ link.

This allows you to filter your results by a date range. Adding a start date without an end date will return clips created between that date and now and adding an end date without a start date will return all clips created up to that date.

The options on the Advanced Search and Home page search panel remain unchanged, any partner, type or date selections made here will result in the appropriate panels being added to the refine box automatically.
Yes, just enter the new text in the box at the top of the refine block and your existing filters will be retained. To perform a brand new search enter the new text in the main search bar.
