The two white lion cubs, a sister and brother called Nala and Mombasa, are not seven weeks old. "They came to us from a zoo in northern Italy where their mother did not raise them the way she should," zoo keeper and owner of Abony Zoo Tibor Toth said. "For a while she raised them well but after a while she began to hide them and to dra...

The first white lions were found in South Africa in 1928. By today they cannot be found at large anymore, because of the illegal hunting as white lions are very precious trophies and thus these lions became almost extinct. In general in Africa 80 percent of lions don't live to their adult lives. The white ones had even worse chances as when they are little they are very visible, very white and became a prey very easily." VARIOUS LION CUBS PLAYING WITH EACH OTHER (SOUNDBITE) (Hungarian) ZOO KEEPER TIBOR TOTH SAYING: "There are few white lions even in zoos and therefore their value is huge, demand is great for them and it increases their value even more. We don't talk about price generally but I can say that you can trade them for almost any other animal, so they are very valuable."
