Story:

Fewer back-room staff and fewer police stations: that's the outlook for the Metropolitan Police after the service outlined how it plans to save money. An estimated 100 million pounds needs to be cut from its budget, but the Met says it doesn't want to lose front-line services. It hopes a 'recruitment freeze' will cut costs in areas such as training and Human Resources. There are also plans to replace traditional stations with "front counter" services in high-street locations.
